THE CHAMBER
New Chamber 2023
The new hyperbaric chamber is a multi-place steel chamber with a maximum capacity of 14 people, which is versatile in its configuration, and can be used completely with chairs, beds and chairs or only beds in just few minutes. The maximum working pressure is 6 BAR or 50 msw.
It has computerized controls to run it automatically, semi-automatically or completely manually and analogically, and it has been modified to have double and triple redundancy in all systems, which makes it very safe and ready 24 hours a day.
The new chamber provides better service to patients in terms of space accessibility, comfort and safety, in addition to a greater capacity for care that is balanced with the increase in demand for the department's services, which is increasing every year.
Old Chamber 1993-2023
In 2023 the hyperbaric chamber that has served in Landspítali for approximately 30 years was permanently taken out of service. Italian manufacturing, made of steel and with a maximum capacity of 5 seats (8 seats in special circumstances). A maximum working pressure of 6 BAR or 50 msw.
During his years of service he provided more than 22,000 medical treatments and more than 12,000 pressurization cycles. At the beginning of 2023, during a regular maintenance inspection, fatigue was evident in some components that were not repairable and it was immediately taken out of service permanently.
