Some life threatening situations require Emergency Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, and we are here for you 24 hours / 365 days a year.
HOW TO ACCESS THIS SERVICE
Call 112 or go to the Emergency Room of the National Hospital, Landspítali Fossvogur.
STEPS
The hyperbaric specialist doctor will be called by the Emergency Room (ER) if needed, a medical examination by the specialist will be performed in the ER to establish the appropriate hyperbaric protocol. Additional laboratory tests may be required prior and/or after the treatment.
EMERGENCY INDICATIONS
• Air or gas embolism
• Carbon Monoxide poisoning
• Clostridial myositis and myonecrosis (gas gangrene)
• Crush injury, compartment syndrome, and other acute traumatic ischemias
• Necrotizing soft tissue infections
• Arterial insufficiencies (central retinal artery occlusion)
OTHER EMERGENCY INDICATIONS
• Decompression sickness (Diver Emergency Re-compression)
Note: The free services only includes the hyperbaric specialist examination and hyperbaric treatment, any additional tests, procedures or hospitalization needed will be charged by the hospital. *Others may apply.
