Emergency Diver Recompression

Decompression illness treatment is focused on the injured diver regarding the dive profile and special needs. Chamber critical care is also available and our staff is trained for this advanced medical care.

 

HOW TO ACCESS THIS SERVICE

Call 112 or go to the Emergency Room of the National Hospital, Landspitali Fossvogur. Mention the dive accident or request an evaluation from a Diving specialist doctor.

 

STEPS

The diving specialist doctor will be called by the Emergency Room (ER), a medical examination by the specialist will be performed in the ER to establish the appropriate re-compression protocol. Additional laboratory tests may be required prior and/or after the treatment.

 

OTHER EMERGENCY INDICATIONS

• Air or gas embolism

• Carbon monoxide poisoning

• Clostridial myositis and myonecrosis (gas gangrene)

• Crush injury, compartment syndrome, and other acute traumatic ischemia

• Necrotizing soft tissue infections

Arterial insufficiency (central retinal artery occlusion)

 

Note: The free services only includes the dive specialist examination and hyperbaric re-compression, any additional tests, procedures or hospitalization needed will be charged by the hospital. *Others may apply.
